Almond Pear Torte



1 1/3 cups flour

3/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup ground almonds, toasted


2 pkgs. (8 oz. each) cream cheese

1/4 brown sugar

1/4 tsp. almond extract

2 eggs


3 cups thinly sliced peeled pears

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 cup slivered almonds


In a small bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and almonds. Press onto the bottom & up sides of a sprayed  9-in. spring form pan; set aside.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, brown sugar and extract until smooth. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Pour over crust.

For topping, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Add pears; toss to coat. Arrange over top. Sprinkle with almonds.

Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: 14 servings.
